March 9 Faculty Showcase Recital supports music scholarships
The Murray State University department of music will present a Faculty Showcase Recital on Tuesday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. The recital will be held in the Performing Arts Hall of the Doyle Fine Arts Center. The event is a fundraiser for scholarships in the department of music. Donations will be accepted at the door. Suggested amounts are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Everyone is invited. The Faculty Showcase Recital introduces new and returning music faculty to the university and the surrounding community, featuring solo and ensemble performances. New faculty members include Christina D’Ambrosio, piano; Tana Field, mezzo-soprano; and Sae-Rom Kwon, cello. Returning faculty who are featured are John Hill, vibes; Stephen Brown, piano; Stephanie Rea, flute; John Dressler, horn; Scott Erickson, oboe; Sue-Jean Park, violin; Scott Thile, bass; and Christopher Mitchell, bass-baritone. Composers represented among the various works on the program include Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Massenet, Piazzolla, Leoncavallo, Damase, Douglas Moore, Mascagni and Gary Schocker.
