Beginner Tai Chi for MSU employees

Due to many requests, Wayne Harper has agreed to teach a beginner Tai Chi class for MSU Faculty/Staff. If there is sufficient interest, the class will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 am-12:15 pm in the Dance Studio of the Carr Health Building beginning February 15 through April 28th (no class the week of MSU spring break). If you are interested, please contact Amelia Dodd (Amelia.dodd@murraystate.edu or 809-6463.

Beginner Tai Chi will be an introduction to the ancient Martial Art of Taijiquan (taichichuan). This class will include: a set of warm up exercises, the first chapter of the Taichi form, and cool down exercises. The warm-up exercises are for relaxation, strength building and increased flexibility. The form practice portion is a set of slow choreographed movements that promote health and wellness. Cool-down exercises lead the practitioners to a state of balance. The class will have a relaxed atmosphere and has the potential to improve both the mental and physical health of participants. Wayne Harper has over forty years experience in Oriental Martial Arts.
