Paducah Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Camp
The Paducah Symphony Orchestra is hosting its first ever music camp this summer, June 17-21, at West Kentucky Community & Technical College. It features large and small ensemble groups for rising 4th – 12th grade students. The last day of the camp will feature a Summer Showcase performance for friends and family of the participants.
Elementary students will attend the camp half days, 9:00am – noon, while Middle and High School students will attend from 9:00am – 3:00pm. This camp offers four divisions based on instrument: Strings, Instrumental-Jazz, Woodwinds/Brass/Percussion, and Vocal/Choral. The Vocal/Choral High School students will learn the KMEA 2014 All-State audition piece to prepare them for the coming year. Students will receive musical instruction in music theory, ear training, and master classes. They will also have the option for private lessons for an additional fee.
The camp costs $75 for Elementary half day students and $125 for Middle and High School full day students. This price covers tuition, lunch, snacks and a camp t-shirt. There are scholarships still available. To register and/or apply for scholarships visit the Paducah Symphony’s website at paducahsymphony.org and for more information contact Art DeWeese, camp director, at artdeweese@comcast.net or 270.443.2401 / 270.534.0404.
