Lou Berney will give a public reading Thursday, April 5, 2012 • 7:30 p.m. Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery with book signing and reception to follow at the Faculty Club.
Lou Berney is an accomplished writer, teacher, and liar. He has written feature scripts and created TV pilots for, among others, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Focus Features, ABC, and Fox. He is the author of The Road to Bobby Joe and Other Stories, and his short fiction has appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, Ploughshares, and the Pushcart Prize anthology. His first novel, Gutshot Straight (William Morrow, 2010), was nominated for a Barry Award and named by Booklist as one of the best crime novels of the year. The follow-up, Whiplash River, will be published in 2012. He has taught at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Saint Mary’s College in California. Currently he teaches in the low-residency MFA program in creative writing at Oklahoma City University.
